Description

Sodium percarbonate, also known as oxygen bleach, is a white, crystalline, inorganic solid that acts as a solid source of hydrogen peroxide when dissolved in water, releasing oxygen to provide powerful bleaching, cleaning, and deodorizing properties.

It’s an eco-friendly alternative to chlorine bleaches and is used in many laundry and cleaning products, but it is an oxidizer and can cause irritation, so it must be handled with care.

How it Works
Releases hydrogen peroxide: When mixed with water, sodium percarbonate breaks down into hydrogen peroxide and sodium carbonate.
Oxidizing action: The hydrogen peroxide then acts as an oxidizing agent, breaking down stains and brightening fabrics.
Activated by water: Because it contains hydrogen peroxide, it must be stored in an airtight container to prevent activation by moisture, and solutions should be used immediately after mixing.

Common Uses
Laundry: Used as a stain remover, pre-soak, and booster with washing powder to whiten and sanitize clothes.
Cleaning: Excellent for removing stains and mildew from various surfaces like wood, concrete, and ceramics.
Sanitizing: Effectively sanitizes fabrics and surfaces.
Deodorizing: Helps to eliminate odors from laundry and other surfaces.
