Composting

There are three main forms of dealing with food waste and green waste.  These are:

Bokashi
Composting (Hot and Cold)
Worm Farming

Which one (or ones) will work for you will depend on your type of waste, the amount, how much you want to spend, how much effort you want to put into it.

In a nutshell:

Bokashi

Compost

Worm Farming

Pros: Can be done indoors.  

Compost everything from chicken bones to left over sandwiches.  

Takes up very little space and is very fast.  Both liquid and solids make amazing compost

Pros:  Will take Onions, Garlic, Chilli, Citrus – all the things you cannot put in Worm Farms.

Can compost bulk amounts of green waste

Pros:  Fast and compact

Fun and educational

Both liquid and solids make amazing compost

Cons:  Cannot add yoghurt

Cost involved in purchasing activator

Fermenting smell can be off putting

Cons: Takes time

Requires turning

Cons:  Requires tiger worms

Sensitive to heat and cold 

Cannot take onions, chilli, garlic, tomatoes and other acidic foods
