Marmalade – Basic Recipe

 

Marmalade

Make it your way with your choice of citrus fruit. Marmalade is a breakfast classic.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams Fruit Lemons, Oranges, Limes, Grapefruit
  • 6 cups Water
  • 2 kg Sugar

Method
 

  1. Wash fruit. Halve, then slice thinly.
  2. Place in a glass bowl and cover with water. Stand 24 hours.
  3. In a heavy based saucepan bring fruit and water to a boil. Reduce heat to a low simmer and simmer for 1 hour or until fruit is soft.
  4. Add sugar and continue to cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Bring to boil and boil uncovered for 15 minutes.
  6. Turn off heat and stand 5 for 5 minutes.
  7. Place in hot sterile jars and seal with hot sterile lids.
